The SLZ-Douala, official partner of the Goethe Institute in Cameroon, is a centre of reference and excellence for the German language course. Our goals are:
We have modern teaching rooms, a multimedia room with broadband internet and a very well-appointed library. All students at the University of Douala in the faculty of “German language and literature studies” are allowed to use our library.
The SLZ or „Sprachlernzentrum Douala“(Language Centre in Douala) originated from a cooperation between the Goethe Institute in Cameroon and the Deutsch-Kamerunischer Kulturverein (German and Cameroonian Cultural Association). The latter of which was created by 3 friends and colleagues in 1994: Marie-Noelle Ntouba Ngolle, Jérôme Amougou Ada and Jean Kouny. Their objective was to promote the German and Cameroonian cultures through language courses, cultural events and conversations among young people.
In 1998, 4 years after the founding, the language centre was officially recognised. 10 years later, SLZ Douala achieved some important goals:

The SLZ-Douala, whose strength leans on its know-how and its vast network of contacts in and out of Cameroon is proud to be the only german linguistic center in the sub-saharian Africa to have signed a partnership with the Goethe-Institute, which is worldwide leader in the german language course domain.

NB. Booking procedure for TestDaF exam:
Send your application letter per email with your name as written on the birth certificate and a scan of your B2 certificate. You will receive a mail if you are selected. Very important: send just 1 application letter and respect the procedure, otherwise your subscribtion will be null and void. Only the candidates allowed to pass the exam will receive an answer from us within three days.
Please note that you are not allowed to give in your place to a third party, otherwise you will be both under severe penalties.
Our German courses are based on the levels defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
We offer 15 course units each week.
Learners get the B1 certificate after the A1, A2 and B1 levels.

Can understand the main contents of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics; also understands specialized discussions in his/her own primary area of specialization. Can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is easily possible without a great deal of effort on either side. Can express him/herself on a wide range of topics in a clear and detailed manner, explain his/her position on a current issue and indicate the benefits and drawbacks of various options.
C1
Can understand a wide range of challenging, longer texts and also grasp implicit meanings. Can express him/herself spontaneously and fluently without having to search for words frequently and noticeably. Can use the language effectively and flexibly in his/her social and professional life or in training and studies. Can make clear, structured and detailed statements on complex topics and apply various means of text association appropriately in the process.
Prices as from the 5th of August 2022
An additional 10,000 FCFA are to be paid when enrolling at the SLZ-Douala for the first time.

The management sets the time table according to the availability of the teacher and the classroom. The choice of the participant will be taken into consideration in case of multiple opportunities and the choice of the majority will win.
